Ripplebase Personal Database System

Ripplebase Personal Database System - About
The Ripplebase project is an attempt to write a very lightweight database management system (DBMS) capable of possesing user-friendliness, considerable features, reliability, speed and compactness such that archiving an entire database together with the DBMS remains possible even on a 1.44MB floppy. It is designed to rely on the computer system's filesystem to ensure reliability and a simple journaling mechanism to give much faster access to recently stored and accessed information. There are future plans to implement caching of database information into memory which will ensure literally instant access to recent data and will be much faster than the implemented journaling mechanism. Finally, as an accidental goal, the project will attempt to display that the Pascal programming language is not "lame" and is quite an OK language for real world applications.

Project development is still quite young and Ripplebase may not yet be the perfect real world application, but it is hoped that after some time, it would be an alternative to other personal database management systems.
